Privacy policy

Short version: offline play stays on your device, online play stores only what a game server needs, and ads come from Google.

Backgammon Lounge is a backgammon game for the web and iPhone. This page says what it collects and why, in plain words.

Playing offline

Games against the computer, challenges, the daily challenge and pass and play run entirely on your device. Your settings, progress and saved game are stored only on your device (in the browser's local storage on the web). We do not receive them.

Playing online

To play people online you need an account on our game server. You can play as a guest (we create a random player name), or create an account with a username and password, or, in the iPhone app, use Sign in with Apple. We store:

• your player name, rating and the online games you play (moves, results, times), to run games, matchmaking and the leaderboard;
• for username accounts, a salted hash of your password (never the password itself);
• for Sign in with Apple, the anonymous user identifier Apple gives us. We do not ask for your email address;
• the IP address of each request, briefly, in server logs and to limit abuse.

Other players see your player name, rating and the moves you play. We do not sell your data and do not use it for anything other than running the game.

Ads

The game is free and paid for by ads. On the web, ads are served by Google (AdSense and H5 Games Ads); in the iPhone app, by Google AdMob. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to show and measure ads, and in some regions you will be asked for consent first. See how Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services. In the iPhone app you can remove ads with an in-app purchase, handled by Apple.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Deleting your data

Offline data disappears when you clear the browser's site data or delete the app. To delete an online account and its games, contact us and we will remove them.
